About the Role

As a Patient Access Representative 2 at University of Miami, you are essential to our patient services team. Working Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., you'll ensure every patient's check-in experience is smooth, professional, and compliant with all privacy and billing requirements. This position serves as the foundation of our patient flow process, directly impacting both patient satisfaction and operational efficiency across our Miami-Dade County healthcare facility.

What You'll Do

  • Register new and returning patients, accurately capturing demographic and insurance information into our electronic health record system
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, communicating benefits and patient financial responsibilities clearly
  • Process copayments and collect payment information while maintaining patient confidentiality and financial data security
  • Greet patients in a professional, empathetic manner and direct them through the check-in process
  • Answer patient inquiries about appointments, scheduling, and registration procedures
  • Coordinate with clinical and billing departments to resolve registration discrepancies and ensure accurate documentation
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations and privacy protocols in all patient interactions

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or healthcare certification preferred
  • Proven experience in patient access, medical office administration, or healthcare customer service
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems and point-of-service payment technology
