Join Century 3 as a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer and drive the design and development of critical control systems for industrial equipment and processes. This full-time position, based in the US, offers the opportunity to lead complex engineering projects from conception through detailed specification while building and mentoring a high-performing team.
About the Role
As Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, you'll take ownership of the initial planning and design phases for equipment, systems, and automated processes. You'll translate technical requirements into comprehensive specifications, coordinate subcontracts, and manage requisitions that support project execution. Your expertise will shape how our solutions monitor, measure, and regulate industrial operations—ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency at every stage.
What You'll Do
- Lead the conceptual design and planning of instrumentation and control systems for complex industrial equipment
- Develop detailed technical specifications that define system requirements, functionality, and performance standards
- Coordinate and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers; prepare and manage procurement requisitions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure control system designs align with overall project objectives
- Apply deep knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automation to solve engineering challenges
- Guide junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team
- Ensure all designs meet applicable regulatory standards and industry best practices
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience in instrumentation engineering, controls engineering, or related discipline
- Proven expertise in designing and specifying control systems for industrial or process applications
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, sensor technology, and control architectures
- Demonstrated project leadership and ability to manage technical teams
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards in your field
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, or related discipline) or equivalent professional experience
