Gov Services Hub is seeking an experienced IBM DB2 DBA/Developer to join our team in Chandler, Arizona. This full-time position combines hands-on database administration and development work across our mainframe infrastructure, requiring deep expertise in z/OS, REXX, JCL, and advanced DB2 features. You'll work a hybrid schedule—three days onsite in Chandler with two days of remote work each week.
About the Role
As an IBM DB2 DBA/Developer with Gov Services Hub, you'll manage and optimize mainframe databases while developing solutions that enhance system performance and reliability. This role bridges database administration and application development, requiring both operational expertise and coding proficiency to drive business outcomes across our production environments.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement look-ahead logic for GDG (Generation Data Group) databases across all production plexes to improve data access patterns and application performance
- Develop and maintain REXX and JCL scripts to automate database administration tasks and streamline operational workflows
- Architect and optimize Materialized Query Tables (MQTs) to enhance query performance and reduce mainframe CPU consumption
- Implement and maintain CDC (Change Data Capture) and replication solutions to ensure data consistency and enable near-real-time data synchronization
- Provide backup support for critical database operations and participate in disaster recovery planning
- Write Python code where appropriate to integrate modern automation and monitoring capabilities with legacy z/OS systems
- Troubleshoot complex database issues and collaborate with application development teams to resolve production incidents
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience administering and developing on IBM DB2 for z/OS mainframe systems
- Strong proficiency in REXX and JCL programming and scripting
- Hands-on experience designing and managing Materialized Query Tables (MQTs)
- Demonstrated expertise with CDC and data replication technologies
- Working knowledge of Python for systems integration and automation
- Understanding of GDG database structures and mainframe data management best practices
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and work effectively in a hybrid environment
