Librarian

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a full-time Librarian for our Centreville location in Fairfax County. This is a pivotal opportunity to lead library services, inspire lifelong learning, and empower students and educators with access to diverse information resources and research skills.

About the Role

As the Librarian, you'll be the heart of our school library—a dynamic learning commons where students and staff discover, engage, and develop critical information literacy skills. You'll curate and manage physical and digital collections spanning books, periodicals, videos, DVDs, software, and online databases. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, you'll integrate library resources into curriculum and design learning experiences that motivate student inquiry and foster a love of reading.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain a diverse, age-appropriate library collection aligned with educational standards and student interests
• Deliver targeted instruction in information literacy, research skills, and resource evaluation to students and teachers
• Partner with educators across grade levels and subjects to support curriculum goals and student learning outcomes
• Create inclusive library programming—book clubs, author events, reading promotions, and digital literacy workshops—that cultivate student engagement
• Manage circulation systems, maintain accurate collection records, and oversee library technology and equipment
• Stay current with library best practices, educational technologies, and instructional trends to continuously enhance library services

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program
• Valid Virginia school library media specialist certification or eligibility for certification
• Demonstrated expertise in collection development, reader's advisory, and information literacy instruction
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with enthusiasm for working with diverse student populations
• Proficiency with library management software, digital resources, and educational technology platforms
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming library environment that supports all learners
