Fluor is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer II to join its team in the Old Sixth Ward neighborhood of Houston, Texas.

About the Role

This full‑time position focuses on delivering precise electrical designs for a variety of industrial and infrastructure projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering group, translating project requirements into detailed plans that meet client specifications and regulatory standards.

What You'll Do

  • Create single‑line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings using industry‑standard CAD tools.
  • Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analyses, and voltage drop studies to verify system adequacy.
  • Select appropriate electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motor starters, and lighting fixtures.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and process engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Review vendor submittals and prepare technical responses during procurement and construction phases.
  • Support field teams by answering design‑related queries and conducting site visits when needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including design calculations, revision logs, and project files.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve quality and safety.
  • Stay current with NEC, IEC, and other relevant codes, applying updates to ongoing work.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Typically 3–5 years of experience in electrical design for industrial, power, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or comparable design software.
  • Solid understanding of power distribution, motor control, and grounding principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, one‑line diagrams, and equipment datasheets.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when performing calculations and checks.
  • Effective communication abilities for collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and delivering work on schedule.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
