Data Center Site Selection Manager

Meta is hiring a Data Center Site Selection Manager for its Boston, Suffolk County office to lead the identification and evaluation of locations that support the company’s global data‑center network.

About the Role

In this position you will partner with real‑estate, engineering, finance, and sustainability teams to find sites that meet Meta’s stringent requirements for power, connectivity, climate resilience, and operational efficiency. You will manage the end‑to‑end site‑selection process, from market scouting and feasibility studies to negotiations and hand‑off to development teams.

What You'll Do

• Conduct market research and track emerging data‑center hubs across the United States and internationally.
• Build financial models to compare total cost of ownership, including land, power, tax incentives, and construction expenses.
• Lead site visits, coordinate with local utilities, and assess environmental impact and permitting timelines.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior leadership that justify site recommendations.
• Negotiate land acquisition or lease agreements while safeguarding Meta’s interests and compliance standards.
• Maintain a pipeline of viable alternatives and update risk assessments as market conditions evolve.
• Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure selected sites translate smoothly into build‑ready plans.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, engineering, geography, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience in site selection, real‑estate development, or infrastructure planning for large‑scale data centers or comparable facilities.
• Proven ability to run complex financial analyses and to interpret utility rates, tax structures, and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong negotiation skills and a track record of closing land or lease deals under tight timelines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities, comfortable presenting to executives and cross‑functional partners.
• Familiarity with GIS tools, data‑center power and cooling requirements, and sustainability benchmarks.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for site visits and stakeholder meetings.
