About the Role
As a Summer Tennis Instructor, you will design and deliver engaging lessons that help participants improve their technique, fitness, and love for the game. You will collaborate with fellow staff to maintain a safe, welcoming environment on the courts and support the broader recreational mission of the university.
What You'll Do
- Plan and conduct daily tennis clinics for youth and adult groups ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
- Assess player skill levels and provide personalized feedback to foster continuous improvement.
- Set up and break down equipment, ensuring courts are ready and secure before and after each session.
- Monitor participant safety, enforce facility rules, and respond promptly to any incidents or injuries.
- Assist with program promotion, attendance tracking, and end‑of‑session evaluations to support program growth.
What We're Looking For
- Current certification from a recognized tennis teaching organization (e.g., USPTA, PTR) or equivalent demonstrable coaching experience.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate learners of diverse ages and abilities.
- Knowledge of proper stroke mechanics, game strategy, and fitness conditioning relevant to tennis.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift light equipment as needed.
