Oven Operator

Cargill is seeking an Oven Operator for a Full‑Time position at its facility in Lorton, Otoe County.

About the Role

As an Oven Operator, you will play a key part in the production line, ensuring that baking equipment runs safely and efficiently to support Cargill’s commitment to quality and sustainability. This role operates on a regular full‑time schedule and reports directly to the shift supervisor.

What You'll Do

• Monitor oven temperatures, conveyor speeds, and product flow to maintain consistent baking results.
• Perform routine checks and minor adjustments on equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
• Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and promptly report any hazards or equipment malfunctions.
• Complete production logs, record batch data, and communicate status updates to team leads.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitation of ovens and surrounding work areas according to sanitation standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements that boost efficiency.
• Collaborate with teammates to meet daily output goals while maintaining product specifications.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience operating industrial ovens or similar food‑processing equipment is preferred.
• Solid understanding of basic mechanical principles and the ability to troubleshoot common equipment issues.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing consistent, high‑quality baked goods.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a warm, noisy environment.
• Effective communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.
• Willingness to follow shift schedules, which may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
• Basic computer literacy for entering production data and accessing work instructions.
