CDL A Shuttle Driver

Performance Food Group is hiring a full‑time CDL A Shuttle Driver for its Lyons, Ionia County facility, where you’ll move trailers safely between yards and distribution points to support overnight food and beverage operations.

About the Role

As a CDL A Shuttle Driver you will be the key link in keeping trailers flowing efficiently between the yard and the dock, ensuring that loads arrive on time and that equipment is ready for the next shift.

What You'll Do

• Operate a tractor‑trailer combination to shuttle loaded and empty trailers between storage yards, dock doors, and nearby distribution points.
• Perform thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, checking brakes, lights, tires, and coupling devices to meet DOT and FMCSA standards.
• Maintain accurate electronic or paper logs of driving time, mileage, and inspection results.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch and yard personnel to receive move instructions and report any delays or mechanical issues.
• Follow all company safety policies, including proper loading procedures, speed limits, and use of personal protective equipment.
• Assist with yard organization by positioning trailers in designated spots and keeping traffic lanes clear.

What We're Looking For

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of six months recent experience operating a tractor‑trailer in a yard or short‑haul environment.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours‑of‑service rules, and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret dispatch instructions, maps, and yard diagrams.
• Strong attention to detail for completing inspections and paperwork accurately.
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
• Good communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.
