About the Role

As a Processor Trainee you will receive hands‑on training in the day‑to‑day operations of the donation processing area. Working alongside experienced team members, you’ll develop the skills needed to handle both softline and hardline merchandise, ensuring items are ready for resale and that quality standards are met.

What You'll Do

  • Receive donated items and perform initial inspection for usability and condition
  • Sort goods into appropriate categories such as clothing, electronics, housewares, and books
  • Learn pricing techniques that maximize resale value while adhering to Goodwill guidelines
  • Apply tags, labels, or stickers accurately to each processed item
  • Stock processed merchandise onto sales floors or storage areas in an organized manner
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment by following all safety protocols and housekeeping standards
  • Assist with inventory counts and report any damaged or unsuitable donations to a supervisor
  • Participate in ongoing training to progress toward a Softline or Hardline Processor specialist role

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to stand, lift, and move items weighing up to 25 pounds repeatedly throughout a shift
  • Basic math skills for counting, pricing, and tagging tasks
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate sorting and proper labeling
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn from feedback and instruction
  • Reliability and punctuality with a commitment to scheduled part‑time hours
  • No prior experience required; enthusiasm for retail, sustainability, or community service is a plus
  • Adherence to Goodwill’s policies, safety procedures, and ethical standards
