About the Role

As an RN in the Operating Room, you will provide direct patient care during surgical procedures, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists to maintain a sterile environment and ensure optimal outcomes. The role follows a consistent daytime schedule, allowing for predictable work‑life balance while supporting a high‑acuity perioperative setting.

What You'll Do

• Prepare operating rooms and verify that all instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready for each case.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping under aseptic technique.
• Monitor patient vital signs, administer medications, and respond to intra‑operative changes.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate updates to the postoperative team.
• Participate in time‑outs, surgical safety checklists, and emergency drills as required by hospital policy.
• Support the orientation and training of new staff and students through mentorship and clinical education.

What We're Looking For

• Active Texas RN license or eligibility for licensure.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS or PALS preferred.
• Experience in scrub or circulating roles within an operating room environment.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization standards, and perioperative nursing best practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented setting while maintaining composure under pressure.
• Commitment to ongoing learning, evidenced by participation in continuing education or specialty courses.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset for interdisciplinary teamwork.
