About the Role
As a Business Data Specialist, you'll transform raw data into actionable insights that guide business strategy across our organization. Working as an individual contributor, you'll partner with departments throughout Shelter Mutual to analyze trends, identify opportunities, and support key initiatives with data-driven analysis. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about data quality and excited to make an impact through analytics.
What You'll Do
- Analyze business data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support organizational goals
- Design and maintain reports and dashboards that enable leadership and departmental decision-making
- Query databases and ensure data quality and accuracy across multiple systems and sources
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
- Document data processes and maintain clear records for compliance and operational continuity
- Support business intelligence initiatives and respond to ad-hoc analytical requests
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business, computer science, statistics, or related field
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis tools and SQL databases
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization platforms
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts and analytical methodologies
- Excellent communication skills; ability to translate technical insights for non-technical audiences
- Detail-oriented and committed to data accuracy, integrity, and security
