About the Role

The Assistant District Attorney position is central to Creek County's criminal justice system. You'll handle case prosecution, legal strategy, and courtroom advocacy on behalf of the state, working alongside law enforcement, court personnel, and the District Attorney's office to uphold the law and represent public interests in all proceedings.

What You'll Do

  • Prosecute criminal cases through investigation review, evidence analysis, and trial preparation
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written motions, briefs, and court memoranda
  • Appear in court for hearings, trials, and preliminary proceedings
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to build strong criminal cases
  • Interview witnesses and review police reports to assess case strength
  • Negotiate plea agreements and case resolutions when appropriate
  • Manage caseload with attention to statutes, court deadlines, and procedural requirements
  • Maintain detailed case files and documentation for record-keeping and appellate review

What We're Looking For

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to the Oklahoma Bar Association
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for court proceedings and legal writing
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma criminal law, evidence rules, and court procedures
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop prosecution strategies
  • Professional judgment and ethical standards required of attorneys
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple cases and court deadlines simultaneously
  • Willingness to work with diverse stakeholders across the criminal justice system
