Sr. Manager – Financial Planning and Analysis (Technical Operations)

United Airlines seeks a Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for Technical Operations in our Illinois Medical District location in Chicago. In this full-time role, you'll lead comprehensive financial planning and analysis initiatives that drive operational excellence and strategic decision-making across our technical operations.

About the Role

As Sr. Manager - Financial Planning and Analysis (Technical Operations), you'll own financial forecasting, budget management, and performance analysis for technical and maintenance operations. You'll translate complex operational and financial data into strategic insights that shape investment decisions, optimize resource allocation, and improve operational efficiency throughout the organization.

What You'll Do

• Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed financial forecasts and budgets for technical operations departments
• Conduct variance analysis and provide ongoing performance reporting to senior leadership
• Build financial models that evaluate operational scenarios, capital investments, and cost reduction opportunities
• Partner with technical operations leadership on strategic financial planning and resource optimization
• Analyze operational metrics and cost drivers to identify efficiency improvements
• Oversee departmental budgets and manage financial accountability across technical operations
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, financial management, or related roles
• 7+ years in a senior management or leadership position
• Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and comprehensive budget management
• Proficiency with financial planning software, enterprise systems, and business intelligence platforms
• Advanced Excel capabilities and experience with data analytics tools
• Background in operations management, technical or maintenance environments, or transportation/aerospace preferred
• Strong presentation and communication skills for diverse organizational audiences
• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience
