Solutions Engineer, Core Digital Native

OpenAI is hiring a Solutions Engineer, Core Digital Native in San Francisco, California. This is a full-time role supporting enterprise and developer customers building with OpenAI's advanced AI models.

About the Role

As a Solutions Engineer on OpenAI's Technical Success team, you'll be the bridge between our customers and our product platform. You'll work directly with enterprises, startups, and developers to architect, implement, and optimize their use of OpenAI's suite of models and APIs. Your technical expertise and customer-focused approach will drive adoption, maximize value realization, and ensure long-term customer success with our core digital-native offerings.

What You'll Do

• Partner with customers throughout their lifecycle—from initial integration through production deployment—to solve their most critical technical challenges
• Design and architect scalable solutions using OpenAI's APIs, fine-tuning, and latest model capabilities tailored to customer use cases
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, code examples, and best practices to accelerate customer implementation and reduce time-to-value
• Troubleshoot production issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges with deep platform knowledge
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and sales teams to gather customer feedback and identify product improvement opportunities
• Develop technical documentation, case studies, and training materials that enable customer self-sufficiency
• Own the technical aspects of customer success, ensuring measurable outcomes and adoption milestones

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering foundation with practical experience building and deploying production applications
• Fluency with APIs, REST, and modern software architecture patterns
• Deep interest in large language models and emerging AI capabilities—you understand the technical possibilities and constraints
• Excellent communication skills: you can explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, from developers to executives
• Customer-first mindset with genuine desire to solve problems and drive measurable business value
• Experience working at the intersection of sales and engineering, comfortable balancing customer needs with technical realities
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration in a fast-moving space
