Join United Rentals as a Power & HVAC Mechanic serving the Birmingham, Jefferson County area. In this full-time role, you'll maintain and repair power generation and HVAC equipment for one of the world's largest equipment rental providers, directly impacting the success of our customers and the reliability of our fleet.
About the Role
As a Service Technician II in our Power/HVAC division, you'll work on a variety of equipment used across construction, industrial, and commercial sectors. This position combines hands-on mechanical work with problem-solving, giving you the chance to expand your expertise across multiple systems. You'll work both independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of maintenance tasks and repairs while maintaining our high safety and quality standards.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on power generation and HVAC equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures using diagnostic tools and technical documentation
- Complete repairs ranging from minor adjustments to moderate component replacement
- Inspect equipment for safety compliance and wear patterns
- Maintain detailed work orders and service documentation
- Ensure all work meets United Rentals' quality and safety standards
- Coordinate with customers to understand equipment needs and timelines
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience maintaining or repairing HVAC systems or power equipment
- Familiarity with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and power generation fundamentals
- Ability to read technical schematics, manuals, and work orders
- Mechanical aptitude and strong diagnostic thinking
- Dedication to safety and quality craftsmanship
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to develop skills across diverse equipment types
