About the Role

As an Uncertified Police Officer, you will perform a variety of law enforcement duties fundamental to community policing. You'll work under the supervision of certified officers while developing the skills and knowledge required for police certification. This position focuses on maintaining public order, responding to citizen needs, and enforcing local, state, and federal laws to ensure the safety and security of Carlsbad residents and businesses.

What You'll Do

• Patrol assigned areas of Carlsbad on foot and in police vehicles throughout residential neighborhoods, business districts, and public spaces
• Conduct regular security checks of buildings, including inspections of doors, windows, and other entry points
• Respond to calls for service and assist citizens with concerns or emergencies
• Observe and report suspicious activity to support crime prevention efforts
• Maintain detailed written reports and documentation of incidents and observations
• Assist certified officers with investigations and law enforcement operations
• Learn and apply local ordinances, state statutes, and department policies

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and medical examination
