Join the Barre Unified Union School District as a full-time School Social Worker dedicated to supporting at-risk students in our Extended Learning Center located in Barre, Washington County. This meaningful role focuses on strengthening the social and emotional well-being of students while building partnerships across families, school staff, and community agencies.
About the Role
As a School Social Worker in our Extended Learning Center, you'll work directly with students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. You'll develop and implement evidence-based programs, conduct comprehensive assessments, and create intervention plans that address each student's unique needs. Your work will involve close collaboration with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure consistent, coordinated care throughout the school environment.
What You'll Do
- Assess students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs through observation, interviews, and standardized assessment tools
- Design and facilitate individual and small-group counseling or support sessions
- Develop and monitor intervention plans to support student progress and adjustment to school
- Partner with families to identify strengths and resources while addressing concerns collaboratively
- Connect students and families with community resources, social services, and external support systems
- Document student progress, maintain confidential records, and communicate findings with school teams
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives supporting student success
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Social Work, School Social Work, or related field
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a School Social Worker
- Experience working with at-risk youth and diverse student populations
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
