Polk County is hiring a full-time Electrician for our Facilities Management division in Lakeland. This essential position maintains electrical systems across county facilities, ensuring safe and reliable operations for our organization and the communities we serve.
About the Role
As an Electrician with Facilities Management, you'll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical infrastructure throughout county buildings and properties. Working alongside maintenance teams, you'll ensure that our facilities operate safely and efficiently, addressing routine maintenance tasks as well as urgent electrical needs.
What You'll Do
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, panels, and components in county facilities
- Diagnose electrical problems and implement solutions that comply with code and safety standards
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize equipment failures
- Respond to service requests and emergency electrical issues across multiple locations
- Document work completed and materials used
- Work flexible hours to support operational requirements
What We're Looking For
- Valid electrician license or certification (or the ability to obtain one)
- Solid understanding of electrical codes, safety practices, and wiring systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work across county facilities
- Professional demeanor and strong commitment to workplace safety
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time position offers competitive compensation at $22.38 per hour with bi-weekly direct deposit pay. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS); 10 paid holidays per year; and paid time off.
