About the Role
As a Line Maintenance Mechanic I with the City of Hendersonville's utilities department, you'll take on technical manual labor responsibilities across water and sewer systems. This role combines preventive maintenance work with emergency repair response, requiring both careful attention to detail and physical capability. You'll operate in utility corridors, easements, and rights-of-way throughout our service area, working with both surface-level equipment and below-grade installations.
What You'll Do
- Install, inspect, and maintain water and sewer lines in assigned areas
- Perform routine repairs on meters, hydrants, and system appurtenances
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize service interruptions
- Respond to emergency repairs and line breaks with appropriate urgency
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
- Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Work across utility easements and rights-of-way as assigned
