About the Role

As a Commercial Lines Underwriter in our Charlotte office, you'll evaluate and process commercial insurance applications, assessing risk and determining coverage eligibility. You'll work with independent agents and brokers throughout the underwriting lifecycle, from initial application review through policy issuance. Your decisions will directly impact our ability to support local businesses and protect their financial futures.

What You'll Do

• Review commercial insurance applications for accuracy and completeness
• Assess risk factors and determine appropriate coverage levels based on underwriting guidelines
• Make underwriting decisions in accordance with company authority and policy requirements
• Communicate with agents regarding coverage options, limitations, and policy terms
• Maintain detailed documentation and case notes throughout the underwriting process
• Ensure all decisions comply with company policies and applicable regulations
• Handle multiple applications while meeting quality and timeliness standards

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling applications and documentation
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Professional demeanor when interacting with agents and colleagues
• Willingness to learn insurance products and underwriting principles
• Property and Casualty insurance license or willingness to obtain one

Work Flexibility

After completing your initial in-person training at our Charlotte location, this role offers the opportunity to work from home up to three days per week, based on job responsibilities and company approval. We believe in balancing professional growth with work-life flexibility.
