School Nurse Needed!

Northwest Indiana Lighthouse Charter School is hiring a full-time School Nurse to join our team in Griffith, Lake County. We're looking for a dedicated healthcare professional to provide essential nursing care and health services to our student population starting immediately.

About the Role

As our School Nurse, you'll be the primary healthcare provider on campus, ensuring our students receive quality preventive care, treatment for acute and chronic conditions, and coordination with families and outside healthcare providers. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on student health, safety, and academic success in a charter school environment.

What You'll Do

• Assess, diagnose, and provide direct nursing care to students with acute and chronic health conditions
• Administer medications and follow individualized healthcare plans for students with special medical needs
• Perform health screenings, including vision, hearing, and developmental assessments
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Communicate with parents, guardians, and physicians regarding student health status and care
• Educate students and staff on health promotion, disease prevention, and wellness practices
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate emergency care when necessary
• Collaborate with school administration and faculty to support a safe, healthy school environment

What We're Looking For

• Current, unrestricted nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of Indiana
• Experience in school nursing or pediatric healthcare—school experience is a priority
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and staff
• Knowledge of relevant health regulations, including immunization requirements and IHP protocols
• Ability to manage multiple health priorities and maintain composure in crisis situations
• Professional commitment to student confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Flexibility and willingness to participate in school events and activities as needed
