CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Groundwater Systems Technical Discipline Leader to lead and advance groundwater remediation and assessment initiatives at our Wyoming, Kent County office. This is a full-time position for a technical expert ready to guide teams, drive project success, and shape the future of contaminated site management.
About the Role
As a Groundwater Systems Technical Discipline Leader, you'll bring technical depth and strategic vision to some of the most critical environmental challenges. You'll oversee the development and implementation of groundwater investigation, remediation design, and closure strategies while mentoring technical staff and establishing best practices across projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead technical direction on groundwater remediation projects from assessment through closure
- Design and oversee implementation of groundwater monitoring systems, treatment technologies, and site remediation strategies
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, building capability and fostering professional growth
- Provide expert technical guidance on complex contamination scenarios and regulatory compliance matters
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to deliver innovative solutions
- Ensure technical quality, project schedules, and budget adherence across assigned work
- Contribute to proposal development and technical strategies for new business opportunities
What We're Looking For
- PE license in environmental or civil engineering (or equivalent technical credentials)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in groundwater systems, remediation engineering, or hydrogeology
- Deep knowledge of groundwater treatment, contaminant transport, and regulatory frameworks (RCRA, CERCLA, state requirements)
- Strong project leadership and team mentoring capabilities
- Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders and clients
- Proficiency with hydrogeological modeling and industry-standard software tools
- A track record of delivering technically sound, cost-effective solutions to complex groundwater challenges
