Catholic Charities West Michigan is seeking a full-time MFT Advocate to support families in Grand Rapids, Kent County. You'll deliver in-home family advocacy services that help households address challenges and build sustainable stability.
About the Role
The MFT Advocate position is grounded in the MiFamily Together model, which emphasizes family strengths and resilience. Over up to 180 days of engagement, you'll provide flexible, accessible services that adapt to each family's situation and availability. Your work centers on building genuine relationships, helping families access the resources they need, and creating pathways to long-term success.
What You'll Do
- Deliver in-home family advocacy services consistent with the MFT philosophy and program standards
- Establish collaborative relationships with families through consistent, non-judgmental support
- Connect households with community resources, social services, and benefits that address their goals
- Work alongside case managers, schools, and community partners to coordinate comprehensive support
- Document progress, challenges, and outcomes in accordance with program protocols
- Recognize and reinforce family strengths as a foundation for sustainable improvement
- Maintain professional confidentiality, ethical boundaries, and respectful communication at all times
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree is a plus
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to family homes
- Ability to connect with and support families across diverse backgrounds and circumstances
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Dependable organizational abilities and time management
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards in sensitive situations
- Willingness to embrace the MFT model and its underlying philosophy
- Capacity to adapt your approach based on the unique needs of each family
