Evaluation & Insights Machine Learning Engineer

Apple is hiring a full-time Evaluation & Insights Machine Learning Engineer in Crown Hill, King County. In this role, you'll design and build machine learning evaluation frameworks that help Apple measure the real-world impact of AI systems across our products and services.

About the Role

You'll work at the intersection of machine learning engineering and product insights. Your focus will be designing evaluation methodologies, building systems that measure model performance in production, and generating insights that guide decision-making across Apple's AI and machine learning initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Design evaluation methodologies and metrics that assess how machine learning models perform in real-world conditions
• Build scalable systems for collecting, processing, and analyzing data that generates insights into model behavior and product impact
• Develop tools and pipelines enabling teams across Apple to evaluate, monitor, and improve their AI and machine learning systems
• Partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to define success metrics for machine learning initiatives
• Apply rigorous experimental design and statistical analysis to produce reliable, actionable insights from complex datasets
• Apply human-centered AI principles to ensure evaluation frameworks measure what matters most to our users

What We're Looking For

• Deep expertise in machine learning fundamentals, model evaluation, and metrics design
• Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages, with hands-on experience building production machine learning systems
• Knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, A/B testing, and how to draw reliable conclusions from data
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools used in industry
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to break complex challenges into solvable steps
• Clear communication skills to explain technical insights to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to work effectively across teams and manage multiple priorities
