American Career College in Acton, Los Angeles County is seeking a full-time Adjunct Mental Health Clinical Instructor to teach and supervise students in our Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. In this faculty role, you will guide nursing students through clinical experiences in mental health and psychiatric settings, preparing them to deliver evidence-based, compassionate care.
About the Role
This Adjunct Mental Health Clinical Instructor position focuses on developing clinical competencies in psychiatric and behavioral health nursing within our ADN program. You will supervise students in clinical practice, collaborate with faculty and community partners, and maintain program excellence and accreditation standards.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and teach students in psychiatric and mental health nursing clinical practice
- Evaluate student performance against ADN program learning outcomes and professional standards
- Facilitate clinical experiences in psychiatric facilities, community mental health centers, and hospital behavioral health units
- Model professional nursing practice, therapeutic communication, and ethical clinical decision-making
- Partner with nursing faculty and clinical site leaders to maintain program quality and student success
- Mentor students in professional development and career preparation
What We're Looking For
- Active California RN (Registered Nurse) license, unrestricted
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required; Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in mental health, psychiatric, or behavioral health nursing
- Solid knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, mental health assessment, and therapeutic communication
- Proven ability to teach and mentor nursing students effectively
- Strong commitment to student learning, academic integrity, and diversity and inclusion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
