Join Padre Dam Municipal Water District as a full-time Safety & Risk Manager in Santee, San Diego County. In this role, you'll develop, implement, and oversee safety and risk management programs that protect our workforce and operational integrity across the District's water supply systems and facilities.
About the Role
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to advance occupational safety and risk mitigation at a recognized municipal water utility. Working directly with District leadership and department heads, you'll shape safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and training programs for all District operations
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses across facilities and work processes
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and disaster response plans
- Coordinate occupational safety training and certification programs for District staff
- Perform regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and state regulations
- Maintain accurate safety records, incident logs, and compliance documentation
- Partner with department supervisors on continuous safety improvement initiatives
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting water utilities
What We're Looking For
- Minimum three years of professional experience in safety management or occupational safety
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations and water utility safety standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with safety management documentation and record systems
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional safety initiatives
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Professional safety certifications (CSP, ASP, or equivalent) preferred
