Program Supervisor – Athletics

City of Manhattan Kansas Parks and Recreation seeks a seasonal Program Supervisor to manage athletic programs and activities in Manhattan, Riley County. This position offers the opportunity to direct recreational sports and fitness initiatives while supervising staff and ensuring positive experiences for community participants of all ages.

About the Role

As Program Supervisor for Athletics, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of athletic programs, manage scheduling, and coordinate activities serving diverse participants. Working flexible hours including weeknights and weekend shifts, you'll ensure facilities and equipment are well-maintained, programs run smoothly, and safety standards are consistently upheld throughout the season.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and coordinate athletic programs and recreational sports activities
• Schedule programs, manage facility access, and oversee equipment usage
• Lead and train program staff, ensuring quality instruction and supervision
• Monitor program quality, participant engagement, and staff performance
• Maintain athletic facilities and equipment in safe, functional condition
• Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with program standards
• Address participant questions and concerns in a professional manner
• Communicate program updates and changes with team members and participants

What We're Looking For

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weeknights and weekend hours
• Strong supervisory and communication skills
• Experience with athletic programs, sports facilities, or recreational activities
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and age ranges
• Physical ability to move around facilities and assist with setup and equipment
• Reliable, professional demeanor and commitment to safety
