Weststar Credit Union is hiring a full-time Mortgage Loan Originator in Reno, Washoe County to build residential lending relationships and drive mortgage and home equity loan business through independent client development.

About the Role

As a Mortgage Loan Originator with Weststar Credit Union, you'll source and close residential mortgage and home equity loans while delivering expert guidance to borrowers. This is a commission-only position where your ability to identify prospects, manage applications, and facilitate closings directly determines your earnings. You'll serve clients both within our branch system and throughout the Reno community, operating independently to build sustainable lending relationships that fuel both your success and the credit union's growth.

What You'll Do

• Source residential mortgage and home equity loan opportunities through personal networking, referral channels, and direct community outreach
• Originate and shepherd loan applications from initial consultation through closing, managing all documentation and client communication
• Build lasting relationships with borrowers in the Reno and Washoe County area that generate repeat business and quality referrals
• Ensure all loan transactions comply with credit union policies, state and federal lending regulations, and fair lending standards
• Coordinate with underwriting, processing, and closing departments to move applications through the approval workflow efficiently
• Maintain detailed records and track all loan origination activity to support accurate reporting and performance accountability

What We're Looking For

• Current mortgage originator license or ability to obtain licensure before employment begins
• Demonstrated success originating residential mortgage or similar consumer loan products
• Strong sales aptitude and confidence building client relationships and negotiating loan terms
• Solid understanding of mortgage products, underwriting criteria, processing requirements, and regulatory compliance
• Professional communication skills and strong organizational ability in a detail-oriented environment
• Self-motivation to work independently while collaborating effectively with branch and loan teams
