Senior Planner – Smelter

Freeport-McMoRan is hiring a Senior Planner – Smelter based in Claypool, Arizona. This is a full-time position in our smelting operations at one of the world's leading mining companies.

About the Role

As Senior Planner for our Smelter operations, you will develop and execute detailed production schedules and operational plans that keep our facility running safely and efficiently. You'll coordinate across production, maintenance, and engineering teams to allocate resources effectively, optimize throughput, and meet operational targets while maintaining our commitment to safety and sustainability.

What You'll Do

• Create and manage smelter production schedules, balancing capacity, maintenance windows, and operational priorities
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance leadership to forecast resource needs and resolve scheduling conflicts
• Analyze process data and production metrics to identify improvement opportunities and adjust plans accordingly
• Coordinate long-term operational planning initiatives with cross-functional teams
• Support capital and maintenance planning to ensure continuity and reliability
• Communicate schedules and plan changes clearly to all stakeholders
• Ensure all planning activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in production planning, operations scheduling, or plant planning roles
• Demonstrated expertise with planning software, data analysis, and scheduling systems
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, smelting, or continuous process operations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments
• Technical aptitude and comfort with metrics, forecasting, and systems analysis
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
