London Stock Exchange Group is seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer to join our Charlotte office. In this full-time position, you'll guide technical strategy, lead talented engineering teams, and architect solutions that power global financial markets infrastructure.
About the Role
As Lead Software Developer at LSEG, you'll direct technical initiatives for systems that serve traders, investors, and financial institutions worldwide. You'll architect scalable platforms, mentor software engineers, and champion engineering excellence across your team. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical contribution.
What You'll Do
- Design and oversee implementation of high-performance, distributed systems for financial markets infrastructure
- Lead and mentor software developers, providing code review, technical guidance, and professional growth opportunities
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and technical processes for your team
- Partner with product, data, and operations teams to define requirements and deliver solutions
- Solve complex technical challenges and make sound architectural decisions
- Evaluate technology choices and recommend frameworks and patterns aligned with business goals
What We're Looking For
- Significant professional experience building software systems, with demonstrated technical leadership
- Strong expertise in modern programming languages and distributed systems architecture
- Track record of successfully leading and developing engineering teams
- Deep knowledge of software design principles, scalability, performance, and testing
- Excellent communication abilities and skill translating between technical and business perspectives
- Experience with cloud platforms, microservices, or financial technology is valued
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
