Leidos is seeking an experienced AI Software Engineer Lead to join the National Solutions team in Chantilly, Fairfax County. In this full-time role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of artificial intelligence solutions that power operational cloud technologies and systems.
About the Role
As an AI Software Engineer Lead at Leidos, you will oversee the architecture and implementation of AI-driven applications within mission-critical environments. This position combines technical leadership with hands-on development expertise, positioning you to shape how AI solutions are deployed, scaled, and maintained across cloud infrastructure serving multiple operational task orders.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and development of AI solutions addressing complex operational requirements
- Collaborate with pipeline development teams to integrate AI capabilities into software deployment workflows
- Partner with deployment and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, scalable cloud-based AI systems
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams on AI best practices
- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of deployed AI technologies in production environments
- Evaluate emerging AI frameworks and tools to enhance solution capabilities
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading AI and machine learning development projects
- Strong expertise in modern AI frameworks and neural network architectures
- Demonstrated ability to design and deploy cloud-based solutions at scale
- Experience collaborating across development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
- Track record of translating complex requirements into technical implementations
- Experience with operational software systems and mission-critical deployments
