Catering Cook – On Call – Part time

Middlebury College is seeking a dedicated Catering Cook to join our food service team on an on-call basis. This part-time position supports our campus catering events and special functions throughout Middlebury, Addison County. As an on-call catering cook, you'll bring skills and energy to each event, working collaboratively with our kitchen team to deliver quality meals and memorable experiences.

About the Role

This is an hourly, part-time, non-benefits-eligible position with flexible on-call scheduling. The hiring range is $19.92 to $24.40 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. You'll coordinate with our catering calendar and work alongside our food service team to execute events that matter to our college community.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and cook food items for catering events according to recipes, Catertrax documentation, and supervisor instructions
• Transport prepared foods and equipment to event locations
• Set up and execute food service at catered events
• Assist lead chefs and kitchen staff with event prep, plating, and breakdown
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards throughout all stages of preparation and service
• Work as part of a coordinated kitchen team to meet event timelines and guest expectations

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience cooking or preparing food in group settings or catering environments
• Ability to follow recipes, supervisor guidance, and catering event documentation with precision
• Flexibility for on-call scheduling and availability to work varying shifts and weekends as assigned
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
• Reliable transportation to reach event venues in the Middlebury area
