Focus Interpreting is hiring an American Sign Language Interpreter to serve the Indio, CA community and surrounding Riverside County areas. As a full-time interpreter, you'll bridge communication between deaf and hearing individuals across educational, healthcare, and social service settings, playing a critical role in ensuring accessibility and inclusion.

What You'll Do

• Deliver accurate American Sign Language interpretation across educational classrooms, medical appointments, legal consultations, and community events
• Interpret in both directions—from English to ASL and ASL to English—with attention to context, tone, and nuance
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing terminology, background materials, and client-specific communication needs
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries in all interpreting engagements
• Collaborate with deaf and hearing clients to ensure mutual understanding and accessibility
• Document assignments accurately and communicate any scheduling or logistical needs to the team

What We're Looking For

• Professional-level fluency in American Sign Language and English
• Current certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential demonstrating advanced interpreting skills
• Proven experience interpreting in healthcare, education, or social service environments
• Strong knowledge of deaf culture and commitment to culturally responsive communication
• Ability to manage high-pressure situations with clarity and composure
• Reliability, punctuality, and professional judgment in client interactions
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation for assignments throughout Riverside County
