Epic Special Education Staffing is hiring a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year, serving students in East Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. This is a full-time, in-person role where you'll directly impact deaf and hard of hearing students' educational access and success.

About the Role

As a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting, you'll be the communication bridge for deaf and hard of hearing students, ensuring they have equal access to classroom instruction, academic content, and school activities. You'll work collaboratively with teachers, educational teams, and students to support inclusive learning environments where every student can engage fully in their education.

What You'll Do

• Interpret instruction, discussions, and classroom content using American Sign Language (ASL) with accuracy and cultural sensitivity
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and school staff during lessons, meetings, and campus events
• Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and provide interpretation for student support services
• Maintain student confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all educational settings
• Adapt your interpretation style to meet diverse student needs, developmental levels, and subject-matter contexts
• Collaborate with school teams to ensure effective communication access across the full school day

What We're Looking For

• Current certification as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter (RID or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience interpreting in educational or school settings
• Strong command of ASL grammar, idiom, and cultural competence
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and families
• Ability to interpret specialized academic vocabulary and subject-matter content
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered support
• Reliable, professional demeanor and commitment to student confidentiality
