The American Friends Service Committee seeks a full-time UN Representative, Program and Outreach to represent our organization and advance peace and justice initiatives at the global stage, based in Grand Central, Manhattan. This is an opportunity to work with a mission-driven team transforming social systems for a more equitable world.

About the Role

AFSC is a Quaker religious organization dedicated to building lasting peace with justice through practical faith in action. We engage with diverse communities and stakeholders to drive systemic change rooted in respect for human dignity. In this role, you'll serve as a bridge between AFSC and the United Nations system, advancing our advocacy initiatives and building partnerships that amplify our impact on global peace and justice issues.

What You'll Do

  • Represent AFSC's mission and programs in UN forums, meetings, and multilateral engagement spaces
  • Develop and coordinate outreach programs that align UN engagement with organizational priorities
  • Build and maintain relationships with UN officials, diplomats, and civil society partners
  • Support advocacy campaigns and mobilize coalition partners toward shared peace and justice goals
  • Monitor UN policy developments and communicate their relevance to AFSC programs and strategy
  • Coordinate between AFSC headquarters, field offices, and UN-based partners to strengthen program outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in UN advocacy, international relations, or NGO outreach and program work
  • Strong knowledge of UN structures, processes, and decision-making bodies
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities across cultures and sectors
  • Demonstrated commitment to peace, justice, and human rights
  • Ability to work collaboratively in mission-driven, diverse environments
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are valued
