Director, Operations SME – Data Centers & Critical Env

Join Cushman & Wakefield as Director, Operations SME for Data Centers & Critical Environments in Phoenix, Maricopa County. We're looking for an experienced operational leader to drive excellence across our mission-critical data center accounts.

About the Role

As Director of Operations SME, you'll serve as the senior technical and operational expert for our data center practice. You'll lead strategy and execution for complex, high-stakes client accounts, combining deep facility expertise with strategic account leadership. This full-time position sits at the center of our data center operations group, where your decisions impact client uptime, compliance, and long-term partnerships.

What You'll Do

• Direct operations and strategic planning for mission-critical data center accounts, ensuring 24/7 uptime and optimal facility performance
• Serve as principal technical authority on data center infrastructure, critical environments, and systems redundancy for internal teams and clients
• Oversee vendor relationships, contractor coordination, and third-party service delivery against SLAs and operational standards
• Lead account teams and manage client communications on facility operations, compliance, and capital projects
• Monitor regulatory compliance, safety standards, and industry best practices across all assigned accounts
• Develop and implement operational procedures, risk mitigation strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation for data center operations and maintenance

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of data center or critical environment operations experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role
• Deep technical knowledge of data center infrastructure, HVAC, power systems, security, and facility management
• Proven track record managing complex, mission-critical client accounts and cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills—ability to translate technical concepts for both technical staff and executive clients
• Knowledge of data center standards (Uptime Institute, ISO 27001, SOC 2) and regulatory compliance frameworks
• Strategic mindset combined with meticulous attention to operational detail
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
