Lead Transmission Line Engineer

Join Leidos as a Lead Transmission Line Engineer at our Schriever Air Force Base location in El Paso County. In this full-time position, you'll take ownership of transmission line projects that power critical infrastructure and utility operations across the region.

About the Role

As Lead Transmission Line Engineer, you direct the planning, design, and execution of both overhead and underground transmission line systems. You'll be responsible for delivering solutions that meet rigorous standards for safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency while partnering with utility clients and infrastructure stakeholders. Your technical leadership ensures projects are executed on schedule and within budget while maintaining the highest engineering standards.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design phase of overhead and underground transmission line projects from initial concept through final deliverables
• Supervise multidisciplinary engineering teams, coordinating across electrical, civil, environmental, and project management disciplines
• Mentor junior engineers and developing professionals, fostering technical growth and professional development
• Develop and implement project strategies that prioritize safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for transmission line routing and infrastructure placement
• Collaborate with utility clients and critical infrastructure partners to understand project requirements and constraints
• Review technical specifications, drawings, and construction plans for code compliance and operational efficiency

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one
• 7+ years of transmission line engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role
• Demonstrated expertise in overhead and underground transmission system design
• Strong project management skills with experience delivering complex infrastructure projects
• Proficiency with transmission line design software and CAD tools
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of utility industry standards, regulations, and best practices
