About the Role

As an Optical Bench Integration Technician at IonQ, you'll be responsible for assembling, aligning, and integrating precision optical components and subsystems used in our quantum computing platforms. This is hands-on technical work that directly contributes to the performance and reliability of quantum systems deployed across enterprise, research, and government sectors.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and align optical benches and component systems to exact technical specifications
  • Perform assembly, integration, and calibration of optical components including lasers, optics, and optical assemblies
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of integrated optical systems
  • Troubleshoot optical systems and resolve integration issues using precision measurement instruments
  • Document test procedures, results, and technical findings with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Collaborate with optical engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure quality and compliance
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and proper handling of sensitive optical equipment

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience assembling, aligning, or integrating optical systems or similar precision equipment
  • Proficiency with precision measurement instruments and optical testing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Detail-oriented approach to quality control and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in optics, photonics, or electronics preferred
