Jefferson County Colorado is seeking a Parks & Facilities Technician I to join the Open Space Division in Golden. This is a full-time, limited-duration position with a one-year assignment period and medical coverage available for the employee and eligible dependents.
About the Role
As a Parks & Facilities Technician I, you'll support the maintenance and operation of county parks and open space facilities across the Jefferson County system. Working 40 hours per week, you'll perform essential technical maintenance tasks that keep these outdoor spaces safe, accessible, and well-maintained for the public. This individual contributor role is part of the Open Space Division, a team dedicated to preserving and enhancing the region's natural and recreational assets.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on park facilities, equipment, and grounds
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and facility equipment safely and effectively
- Conduct facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
- Assist with grounds upkeep, landscaping maintenance, and seasonal preparations
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with county standards
- Report maintenance issues and coordinate with supervisory staff as needed
- Contribute to the overall appearance and functionality of assigned park areas
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic equipment operation
- Strong attention to safety and ability to follow instructions
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work a standard daytime schedule
- A commitment to public service and maintaining quality park facilities
