The University of Hawaii is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join its Cancer Biology Program at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center in Kakaako. This 11-month academic appointment offers an exceptional opportunity to advance cancer research and education while contributing to a dynamic, mission-driven research community in Hawaii.
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated scholar at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level who will lead innovative research in cancer biology while building a strong teaching presence within our graduate and professional programs. This tenure-track position provides the foundation and support needed to establish your research program, mentor emerging scientists, and make meaningful contributions to cancer prevention and treatment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct original, externally-funded cancer research that advances the field and contributes to addressing cancer health disparities in our region
- Teach graduate-level and professional courses in cancer biology, translational research, and related topics
- Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduate scholars
- Collaborate with faculty and researchers across the Cancer Center and broader University to foster interdisciplinary research initiatives
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and actively pursue extramural funding
- Participate in departmental and institutional service activities
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree in cancer biology, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated research productivity and scholarship in cancer biology
- Strong commitment to mentoring and student development
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills
- Ability to secure external research funding
- For Associate or Full Professor positions: evidence of sustained scholarly impact and leadership in the field
