About the Role
This postdoctoral appointment positions you at the forefront of sports science research, where data-driven insights directly enhance athletic training, performance optimization, and human health outcomes. You will lead machine learning initiatives within SPARC, collaborating with sports scientists, physiologists, clinicians, and strength and conditioning specialists to solve complex performance challenges through computational innovation.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and validate machine learning models tailored to athletic performance, biomechanical, and physiological datasets
- Perform statistical analysis, data preprocessing, and feature engineering on complex, high-dimensional research data
- Translate domain research questions into robust analytical solutions through close partnership with interdisciplinary teams
- Author peer-reviewed manuscripts and research publications communicating methodology, findings, and impact
- Present research at scientific conferences, departmental seminars, and collaborative research forums
- Contribute to competitive grant proposals and research funding strategy development
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated expertise in machine learning model development and applied data science research
- Strong proficiency in scientific programming (Python, R, or equivalent)
- Experience with large-scale dataset analysis, data wrangling, and predictive modeling
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating research excellence
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently on research initiatives
- Excellent scientific communication and technical writing capabilities
