Plumbing- Estimating Manager

Modigent is hiring a Plumbing Estimating Manager in Phoenix, Maricopa County. This is a full-time leadership opportunity for a seasoned professional who combines deep trade expertise with strategic business thinking—someone ready to build a competitive estimation function, lead a talented team, and drive profitable project acquisition across our commercial plumbing and mechanical contracting division.

About the Role

You'll own the estimation strategy and execution for Modigent's commercial plumbing, HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems projects. The work spans complex building infrastructure, facility upgrades, and industrial installations serving demanding clients. Your mission is to translate project scope into accurate, competitive bids that preserve margins while winning work—and to build an estimation team and process that reliably deliver both.

What You'll Do

• Lead the plumbing and mechanical estimating function, directing the team that turns opportunities into profitable contracts
• Develop and refine estimation strategy, pricing models, and bidding approach across project types and market segments
• Review scope documents, specifications, and drawings to produce detailed, thorough estimates grounded in real field conditions
• Mentor and manage estimation staff, building capability and maintaining consistent accuracy standards
• Identify cost drivers, labor productivity patterns, and material cost trends to keep estimates sharp and competitive
• Collaborate with sales, project management, and field teams to align estimates with execution reality and build trust in the numbers
• Establish best practices, templates, and processes that scale estimation quality and efficiency

What We're Looking For

• Significant hands-on experience as a plumbing or mechanical estimator, or in a senior estimation leadership role
• Strong command of commercial plumbing systems, HVAC design, piping materials, codes, labor practices, and trade workflows
• Demonstrated capability in cost analysis, spreadsheet modeling, and financial reasoning—comfort with numbers and data
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills; ability to recruit, develop, and retain quality estimation staff
• Track record of delivering estimates that hold through project execution and stand up to budget scrutiny
• Problem-solving mindset and genuine interest in training others in the mechanical trades
