About the Role
In this position, you'll manage the front-line patient access and scheduling operations at our Janesville location, ensuring every patient interaction is handled professionally and efficiently. As a Patient Access Specialist, you'll be responsible for guiding patients through the pre-visit process, coordinating insurance requirements, and maintaining the accuracy of our patient records.
What You'll Do
- Pre-register incoming patients and verify insurance eligibility and authorization status prior to service delivery
- Process referrals, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications within clinical information systems
- Document all patient access activities with precision and timeliness
- Handle incoming telephone calls from patients, providers, and internal staff with professionalism and accuracy
- Assess caller needs and route inquiries appropriately—scheduling appointments, directing to clinical staff, or coordinating with physician offices
- Communicate insurance requirements, copay information, and pre-visit procedures to patients clearly
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational healthcare policies
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; healthcare industry experience valued
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic, patient-focused environment
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record-keeping
- Working knowledge of healthcare insurance, authorization processes, and patient privacy compliance
- Professional, reliable presence and commitment to patient service
