Ella Baker Center for Human Rights is hiring a Digital Communications Manager to lead community engagement through digital channels in Oakland, Alameda County. This full-time role sits at the center of organizational storytelling, amplifying our mission to shift resources away from incarceration toward community safety and economic opportunity.
About the Role
As Digital Communications Manager, you'll drive the organization's digital presence across all platforms, developing strategies that reach and mobilize our communities. You'll own content creation, social media engagement, website management, and digital campaign execution—telling the stories that advance our racial justice and criminal justice reform work.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement digital communications strategy across platforms
- Create and publish original content for website, social media, and email communications
- Manage social media accounts with focus on community engagement and audience growth
- Maintain and update website content for accuracy and accessibility
- Build and execute digital campaigns supporting advocacy and fundraising goals
- Analyze digital metrics to assess performance and inform strategic decisions
- Coordinate with program teams to ensure cohesive messaging across campaigns
- Support multimedia projects, including photography, video, and graphic design coordination
What We're Looking For
- 2-4 years of digital communications, social media, or marketing experience
- Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience preferred
- Proficiency in content management systems and digital analytics tools
- Exceptional writing and editing skills for multiple audiences and platforms
- Demonstrated ability to manage social media accounts and build digital communities
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Experience with budget oversight and digital campaign management
- Commitment to racial justice and community-centered organizing (or willingness to learn our context deeply)
