About the Role

As an Adult Librarian at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, you'll be the bridge between our patrons and the resources, services, and programs that enrich their lives. Working directly with adult library users in Allegheny County, you'll help people discover knowledge, develop skills, and access the information they need—whether for career advancement, personal growth, or everyday problem-solving.

What You'll Do

• Deliver reference services and reader's advisory, helping patrons find and evaluate information across print and digital resources
• Develop and maintain collections that reflect the interests and needs of adults in our community
• Create and lead adult programming, classes, and workshops that support learning and engagement
• Build relationships with patrons and community partners to expand library reach and impact
• Assist patrons with technology, databases, and research tools
• Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive environment where all adults feel valued and supported
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality service across the library

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS), or equivalent professional qualification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Passion for public service and a commitment to intellectual freedom and equitable access to information
• Proficiency with library technology systems and databases
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
