Nurse Practitioner- CERT/Rapid Response Team

Join Houston Methodist Hospital in Southgate, Houston, as a Nurse Practitioner on our CERT (Rapid Response Team). In this full-time role, you'll deliver critical care when patients need it most—responding to rapid clinical events and providing immediate, evidence-based interventions in high-acuity situations.

About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner—CERT/Rapid Response Team responds to acute clinical emergencies and time-sensitive patient situations across our hospital. You'll perform rapid assessments, initiate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and help stabilize patients during critical moments. Working alongside a multidisciplinary care team, you'll apply independent clinical judgment to diagnose acute conditions and coordinate transitions to appropriate levels of care.

What You'll Do

• Respond to rapid response calls and code events throughout the hospital
• Conduct urgent patient assessments and provide immediate stabilization
• Initiate clinical interventions and diagnostic procedures in time-critical situations
• Document clinical findings and communicate handoffs to receiving care teams
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and specialists to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide clinical consultation and support to unit staff on acute presentations
• Contribute to quality improvement and team debriefing processes

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Nursing or related graduate clinical field
• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
• ACLS certification required at hire; current BLS certification
• Demonstrated acute care clinical experience in nursing or advanced practice
• Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and decision-making abilities
• Ability to remain focused and effective in high-pressure environments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
