Adjuster – Specialty Casualty Claims

Merchants Insurance Group is hiring a full-time Adjuster – Specialty Casualty Claims in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. You'll join the Claim Legal Group to deliver expert technical analysis and resolution for complex specialty casualty claims while supporting the company's mission as a leading Northeast property and casualty insurer.

About the Role

As an Adjuster in our Specialty Casualty Claims division, you'll investigate, evaluate, and resolve high-value and technically demanding claims. Working within our Claim Legal Group, you'll combine deep product knowledge with investigative skill to protect Merchants and deliver fair, timely resolutions to policyholders across diverse casualty coverages.

What You'll Do

• Investigate specialty casualty claims, gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and reviewing documentation to establish facts and coverage applicability
• Analyze claim files for technical issues, policy language interpretation, and legal exposure
• Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for claim decisions
• Communicate claim status, findings, and outcomes clearly to insureds, claimants, and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with legal counsel, medical professionals, and other specialists on complex matters
• Manage claim timelines and ensure compliance with state regulations and company standards
• Stay current with casualty insurance trends, coverage issues, and best practices in claims handling
