WSP USA is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer and Bridge Inspection Team Leader to direct engineering assessments and field operations across New England, based in West Side, Worcester County. This full-time position combines technical leadership with hands-on bridge inspection expertise, offering an ideal transition into team leadership for an experienced structural engineer.
About the Role
You'll lead our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team, overseeing critical assessments across our offices in Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Glastonbury, CT; and Providence, RI. In this senior role, you'll manage both the technical and people side of bridge inspection operations—mentoring field engineers, reviewing structural findings, and setting standards for how we deliver inspection and assessment services across the region.
What You'll Do
- Direct and mentor a team of bridge inspectors and structural engineers in field operations
- Lead comprehensive bridge condition assessments and structural evaluations under NBIS and state DOT protocols
- Oversee quality assurance, compliance, and safety standards across all inspection programs
- Review detailed inspection reports, engineering recommendations, and deliverables for accuracy and completeness
- Establish team workflows, training curricula, and best practices for bridge inspection methodology
- Interface with agency clients and internal teams on inspection scope, scheduling, and technical findings
- Support business development and long-term client partnerships
What We're Looking For
- PE or SE licensure in structural or civil engineering
- Significant experience in bridge inspection, structural assessment, or infrastructure engineering
- Genuine interest in transitioning to people leadership and developing technical teams
- Deep familiarity with bridge inspection standards and state transportation agency requirements
- Strong project management, communication, and analytical capabilities
- Comfort working in field environments and managing diverse, complex projects
