Chief Development Officer

Join Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Bushnell, Brookings County as Chief Development Officer, a full-time leadership role dedicated to growing revenue and expanding our mission to serve young people in our community.

About the Role

As Chief Development Officer, you will lead all fundraising, major gifts, and revenue development strategy for our organization. You'll drive sustainable growth, cultivate meaningful donor partnerships, and secure the resources needed to deliver transformative programs to young people across the Northern Plains. This is a strategic leadership position reporting to executive leadership and working closely with the Board of Directors.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to diversify revenue streams and meet annual targets
• Identify, cultivate, and steward major donors and corporate sponsors to build long-term partnerships
• Lead grant research, proposal writing, and grant management for foundation and government funding opportunities
• Manage annual campaigns, capital initiatives, and special events that engage donors and generate revenue
• Build and lead a development team (if applicable), providing direction and mentorship
• Communicate the organization's impact and mission to donors, prospects, and community stakeholders
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align development strategy with organizational goals
• Maintain accurate donor records and generate reports on fundraising performance and ROI

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record of successful nonprofit fundraising and major gift development
• Strong strategic planning and revenue development experience
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Experience with grant writing, donor stewardship, and fundraising events
• Passion for youth development and community impact
• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a mission-driven environment
